3D Printed Bones & Limbs for the Soldiers on War

3D Printed Bones & Limbs for the Soldiers on War

University of Nevada has develop a technology that could be use to prepare exact replica in 3D form of soldiers before deployment.

NASA has been using to develop and create 3D Tools for their astronauts for their use in the space for quite a time but printing of 3D bones are not long shot now.

University of Nevada is in talks with the surgeons of Military with the proposal of 3D printing now can be use to prepare, on site,  as replacement of the broken bones of the soldiers on War. Soldiers would be completely scanned by taking x-rays, ultrasounds and MRI’s to create an exact replica of a human body before they enter the battlefield and thus virtual 'twin' could be kept online so that new bones could be 3D printed when they get injured, scientists at University have suggested.

The team has already uses virtual operating tables to practice dissection and help medical students learn the anatomy of the human body. The virtual autopsy table, designed by US firm Anatomage, is approximately the size of a front door with a large screen which shows a life-size body which can be manipulated in three dimensions.

Scientists have already created 3D printed jawbones from titanium powder which is porous and can allow new bone to grow into the gaps.
